Dana Steel is adding 400,000 tonnes per year to the United Arab Emirates coated steel output with the installation of an HDG line and PPGI line in Dubai, a company executive told Metal Bulletin.
A source at one of the biggest producers in the UAE said that although the introduction of new capacity in the region will undoubtedly increase competition, the impact on prices will be limited because the value of HDG will keep increasing in the UAE and in global markets because of high hot-rolled coil (HRC) and zinc prices.
Dana Steels HDG line will have an annual production capacity of 250,000 tonnes per year and will be able to produce HDG in 0.30-2.50mm thicknesses, the company executive told Metal Bulletin. The company is also adding a PPGI line in Dubai, with both facilities expected to be up and running by November 2018. The PPGI line will have an annual capacity of 150,000 tpy and will be able to produce PPGI of 0.2-1.50mm thickness.
