Sail to raise liquid steel capacity by 2.8 million tpy

Steel Authority of India (Sail) will increase its steel production capacity by 2.8 million tonnes per year after the commissioning of blast furnace No.8 in Bhilai, central India. Once it starts producing, the Bhilai site will have an overall liquid steel production capacity of 7.5 million tpy, Sail said.

Sail is planning to increase production capacity and sales volumes over the coming years, in line with the Indian government’s ambition to achieve a nation-wide steel output of 300 million tpy by 2030-2031.
